It seems that this year is the one of Yves Saint Laurent. Even though he passed away in 2008, his creations and his impressive art collections are still in everyone’s memory. He started at Dior at only 21, and created his own label in 1961, with the help of his beloved Pierre Bergé. From his career, we will remember his extremely modern vision of fashion. He was the first one to dress women with pants, which was, at the time, unbelievable.

I recently attended two events linked to YSL.The first one was the YSL exhibition in Paris’ Petit Palais, which covers chronologically his 40 years of creation. Seeing his most emblematic dresses was really impressive, and being able to actually see with my own eyes their extremely delicate details could only add to my admiration.

Then, I was also lucky enough to see the preview of “Yves Saint Laurent – Pierre Bergé, L’Amour Fou”, by Pierre Thoretton, a documentary based on Yves & Pierre’s passion for each other and on their huge art collections. The movie is to be released in France on september 22nd, and I can only invite fashion addict to go and see it, for I now am under the impression to know Yves Saint Laurent a bit better. It is really interesting to learn how his inspirations came from, how he felt about his success, and how he and Pierre hoarded so many incredible objects.

At HYPEED, we’ve decided to take a little vacation. Seeing the cool holiday pictures you sent us for the theme “A day at the beach” really made us feel like taking a few days off and getting a tan! You’re totally responsible for this, in a way ! Don’t worry though, HYPEED will still be active! There will be 3 open calls for contributions (instead of usually 4), and you’ll still be able to read a fashion feature every monday and thursday. I don’t want to spoil all the fun, but there will be an interview of a super stylish member, a brand new fashion feature, and a little best of our past fashion features. And of course, we will still be answering your emails and validating your contributions once a day. In the end, our holidays won’t change much, it will be exactly the same as usual, except just a bit slower!

This week, at HYPEED, we’ve decided to spoil our members! There’s a crazy cool pair of Melissa 3 straps Elevated by Vivienne Westwood to win! How? Just participate in our call for contributions “From day to night”. The concept is simple: we want to see how you adapt your day outfit when you go out at night. For this theme, you are allowed to post photos of 2 different outfits (one day outfit, and the same, but accessorized differently, for the night). You can also post photos of a piece of clothing or accessorize that goes well with casual day outfits or classy and chic night outfits.

I’m sure you love these heels as much as I do! They were designed by Vivienne Westwood for her special collaboration with Melissa. The real Mulberry Alexa

If this isn’t the hottest bag of the season, then I’ll stop shopping for a month! The Mulberry Alexa has been seen everywhere, on, of course, the shoulder of Alexa Chung herself, but also on tons of fashionistas all over the world. Or was it really the real Mulberry? Maybe not, as you can find good imitations here and there (check above the version by Baby Says Boutique, or the one by Storets).

It makes me wonder: what makes a bag THE bag of the season? Why this bag and not another? Every season, there’s a new It bag, (from Balenciaga “Motorcycle”  to Fendi “Spy” , to Alexander Wang studded bag), and, as different as they all are from each other, they all were best sellers! Maybe a good It bag exactly enhances the spirit of the season. At the moment, Vintage is very popular, and the Mulberry Alexa has that vintage vibe, so maybe that’s it! What do you think? If you know Blondie Brune, then you’re familiar with their extra comfy and very stylish clothes. If you don’t, then let me introduce you to Charlie and Julie, the two pretty sisters who created Blondie Brune. Charlie is an actress, but she also keeps time to style Blondie Brune’s collections. Her sister Julie is an illustrator and a plastic artist who actually draws on Blondie Brune shirts to make them absolutely unique. How cool is it to have a shirt no one else will ever have?

I’ve seen their collection, and even own a few pieces myself, and I can tell you that these clothes are smart! Everything is comfy and extra quality. It’s the kind of clothes you throw on in the morning without thinking too much about it, and you look your best!

You want to know how to get published in HYPEED’s fashion features? Follow these steps!

• Ask someone to take your pictures. In-the-mirror pictures or pictures taken with outstretched arms are NEVER published. Same for pictures where we can actually see the base on which you put your camera.
• Pay attention to the frame. If half your head is cut out from the shot, or if there’s 2 meters of wall above your head, there’s a big chance your outfit won’t be highlighted as much as it deserves.
• Find a pretty setting. Okay, not everyone has a backyard full of flowers or a pond. But try to find a cool place, or at least a white wall. Always avoid showing the mess in your room, or furniture-crowded rooms. Remember that a photo will look at its best when taken outside, with a nice light.
• Don’t cheat. Send us at least three pictures of you wearing the same outfit. It’s also cool to add close ups, and at least one head to toe shot.
• Don’t tag your photos with your blog url or nickname. Don’t worry, we’ll add a link to your profile. It would be a shame if we couldn’t use your pic just because it was tagged, don’t you think?
• Trouble over your pictures quality. We cannot publish blurry pictures, so pay attention to that.
• Respect the theme. it may seem obvious, but when you send us photos for a particular theme, make sure we can see the item in question.
